Armando Bustamante

Biography

Armando is Student Program Specialist at UNM’s El Centro de la Raza. His family is from Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Masters in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University. Armando works closely with undocumented populations including DACA recipients; he is the chair of the UNM Provost Undocu Taskforce, which explores policy and practice to make campus open to students regardless of documentation status. Armando is an advocate for social justice, access and success for all students; he sees El Puente as an organization that will ensure behavioral health practitioners more closely represent the populations they serve.
